Physical and Occupational Therapy

Since 1994, Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, has partnered with Mision ILAC through groups of students and professionals from the Physical and Occupational Therapy. The students undergo an experience of work and service in the different rehabilitation centers in Santiago de los Caballeros and the surrounding rural communities that are attended by ILAC Mission. St Catherine University has also joined this.

The volunteer delegations are lodged at ILAC Mission and from there they are transported to the places where they will work, attending to hundreds of people with physical and therapeutic ailments, helping to improve their physical, emotional, social and professional lives.

The rehabilitation centers where the services are provided: Hospicio San Vicente de Paúl, Hogar Nueva Esperanza, Hospital Infantil Arturo Grullón y Ángeles de Conani in Santiago de los Caballeros. They also provide assistance at rehabilitation centers in the cities of Moca, La Vega, and Mao. There they offer training and development with new techniques and the use of each institutions resources to personnel.
