About Ilac Center
ILAC MISSION began in
1973 with the
mission of train youth in leadership skill and to inprove the quality
of life of the dominican peasant.For many years ILAC MISION has been
bringing only foreign volunteers in the health field to work and
deliver services in isolated rural communities where not physician,
dentist or nurses were assigned.Beside, we ran an educational program
for deseases prevention.
In 1986 we started with donations, little by little, the physical instalations of center of education for the integral health, ILAC MISSION, in a Santiago suburb.From that instalations we delivered projects services in isolated communities.Formal education in these communities was poor. Peasants were migrating to urban areas, looking for better opportunities. In the city, therefore, conditions worsened, creating more social problems.
ILAC MISSION realized that an integral education was a priority. For years, ILAC MISSION trained and organized health cooperatives, men and women inside their rural communities, to promoted health in many aspects.Team work started, from their dynamic, solutions ideas came up for educational, agriculture and health in general.
Today, ILAC MISSION not only deliver health programs to more than 200 rural communities but other projects that inprove quality of life of rural populations, with an integral focus, from material affairs to spirituality. ILAC MISSION get into isolated rural communities where not other, offical or private organization ever visit. So ILAC focus the forgotten families in rural areas, we promote patriotic, morals and social values of the Dominican Republic.
